We are hosting our fabulous annual countryside celebration ... with the apple at its core!
At our charity APPLE DAY, we will be celebrating all things apple. Join in the fun, and help raise money for the Sick Children’s Trust. Over £6,000 was raised for this wonderful charity at last year’s Apple Day – a target we hope to beat this year!
There will be plenty to keep you busy for the day...
Bring your apples down to be identified by our expert apple identifiers from the East of England Apples and Orchards Project (EEAOP), and don’t forget to get a few extra to be pulped and juiced!
Cam Valley Orchards from Meldreth will be selling and discussing their heritage apple varieties, and there will be all sorts of appley games and stalls to enjoy.
Get cooking with the amazing Ursula Ferrigno and tuck into lots of apple inspired treats at the various food stalls and in the fabulous Food Hall.
Apples aside, take a ride on a miniature steam train, listen to the fabulous Sawston Steel Band, have a go on the traditional fairground rides, try your hand at archery or watch displays of many traditional activities – from falconry to willow and basket weaving - and even some less traditional crafts such as chainsaw sculpting.
There’s also plenty to keep little ones occupied with J’ezO the Magician, face painting and the ever popular tractor and trailer rides around the farm.
This event is based on WonderWood’s very own Tim and Immy's family farm - and therefore they demonstrate and get involved with many aspects of the event as possible. Tim takes part in hedge laying demonstrations (and cider drinking!) and Immy and Christian will be demonstrating weaving an arch, a fence, and displaying their wonderful woven dens
. This really is a fabulous event, raising lots of money for charity.
