The Harry Potter Tree

In January 2017, WonderWood Oxfordshire was commissioned to weave a circular fence around the magnificent 'Harry Potter Tree' at Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire. For those of you who don't know, this beautiful, majestic, 300 year old Cedar of Lebanon tree which sits alone by a lake at Blenheim Palace is where part of "Order of the Phoenix" was filmed. Now, this commission was indeed an honour as Harry Potter fans travel from all over the world to see the famous 55ft tall, 20ft diameter tree - and now it would be framed by one of our fences...

In the last few years, this beautiful tree (which has a distinctive, gaping hole in the middle of its huge hollow trunk) has weakened somewhat, and there has been real concern of the whole tree toppling down. A team of tree surgeons have now fixed cables to its upper branches and attached them to near by trees, which will give the cedar added support and reduce the chances of it collapsing.

In order to stop the general public coming into danger of falling branches, we have woven a striking and very fitting willow fence which wraps round the tree and the surrounding area beautifully. We were very proud to be asked to weave a fence in this position. The park is right on our doorstep here in Oxfordshire and it is an honour to know that something we have woven will be there for years to come...
